Based on typical contractor use, these are the components that wear first on the PRO-1200 Electric:
- Flexible shaft inner core (250T7) - Inspect and re-lubricate with lithium grease every 50 hours of operation. Replace when the core shows dry spots, kinking, or reduced flexibility. Do not over-grease, as excess lubricant causes drag and overheating.
- Grinding head bearings (140C003) - Replace when you hear grinding noise from the head, feel excessive play in the spindle, or notice uneven cutting.
- Wiper dust seal (680A1) - Replace when dust leaks past the seal during operation. Critical for maintaining vacuum suction on the PRO-1200V.
- Guard brush seals - Replace when bristles are worn flat or missing sections, reducing dust capture efficiency.
- Electric switch (425D1) - Replace if the motor fails to start or operates intermittently. Check the power cord (505A1) for damage first.
- Tension spring (465B1) - Replace if the cam-lock pressure system no longer holds the grinding head firmly against the ceiling.
Most structural parts (grinding head, guard, flexible shaft, main frame, mast) are shared between both models. The key differences are in the power unit and motor hanger:
| PRO-1200 Electric | PRO-1200G Gas | |
|---|---|---|
| Motor | 1.5 HP Baldor Electric (555B1) | 4.0 HP Honda Gas Engine (555C1) |
| Best For | Indoor work, no exhaust fumes | Outdoor work, no power outlet needed |
| Motor Hanger | Electric motor plate (440M1) | Gas engine plate (440X1) |
| Casing Adapter | 150HK2 | 150HR2 |
| Core Adapter | 160ED2 | 160EE2 |
Motor
Keep the housing clean for proper cooling. Check the switch and electric cord for wear regularly. Motor bearings are sealed and require no additional lubrication. Replace the motor when bearings are worn.
Flexible Shaft
After approximately 50 hours of operation, remove the inner core on a clean surface free of dirt and grit. Inspect for dry areas. If lubrication is needed, wipe the core clean and apply a 1/16" coating of high-quality lithium grease. Do not over-grease.
Grinding Head
Periodically check bearings, seal, spindle, and spindle thread for wear. Replace components as needed to maintain even, gouge-free grinding performance.
General
Check all bolts for snugness regularly. Always have the switch OFF before plugging in. Never start the grinder with the head pressed to the ceiling. Start first, then gradually apply pressure using the tension handle.
