About VP1550 Parts

Wacker VP1550 Plate Compactor Parts — OEM Replacement for VP1550, VP1550A, VP1550AW

The Wacker Neuson VP1550 is one of the most widely deployed forward vibratory plate compactors in the construction rental and contractor market. Its 20-inch compaction plate, Honda 4-stroke engine, and built-in water sprinkler system make it the go-to plate compactor for asphalt patching, paver installation, gravel compaction, and trench backfill. Also known on job sites as a plate tamper, vibratory plate, packer plate, wacker plate, or simply a Wacker packer, the VP1550 takes constant heavy use. When parts wear or fail, DanseUSA is your OEM source — authorized Wacker Neuson dealer since 1981.

VP1550 Model Variants

  • VP1550 — original model with Honda GX160 engine
  • VP1550A — revised model with minor frame and handle updates
  • VP1550AW — AW = water sprinkler model; includes water tank for asphalt compaction

Many parts are shared across VP1550, VP1550A, and VP1550AW. However, water system components are exclusive to the AW model. Always verify your exact model number.

Most Commonly Replaced VP1550 Parts

  • Shock mounts / vibration isolators (set of 4) — the #1 wear item on any plate compactor; rubber shock mounts absorb compaction force and protect the engine and handle assembly from transmitted vibration. Replace when the machine vibrates excessively through the handles or the engine mount looks cracked.
  • Drive belt (V-belt) — V-belt from the engine to the exciter; a slipping or broken belt causes loss of compaction force. Replace OEM-spec belt to maintain proper tension and drive ratio.
  • Belt guard & belt guard hardware — missing or damaged belt guards are a safety and compliance issue
  • Water tank & water tank cap (AW models) — cracked or UV-degraded water tanks on VP1550AW; OEM replacement ensures proper flow rate and prevents drip contamination of the exciter
  • Water sprinkler hose & fittings (AW models) — cracked sprinkler hoses lead to uneven water distribution and baseplate sticking
  • Carburetor (Honda GX160) — VP1550 runs a Honda GX160 engine; gummed-up carb from ethanol or storage is the most common no-start cause
  • Air filter & air cleaner assembly — Honda GX160 air filter for VP1550; replace every 25–50 hours depending on dust conditions
  • Exciter assembly & exciter bearings — the exciter generates the compaction vibration; worn exciter bearings cause noise and reduced plate compaction force
  • Clutch assembly & clutch bearing — centrifugal clutch transfers engine power to the exciter; worn clutch causes slipping and reduced plate force
  • Base plate / compaction plate — 20-inch steel plate for VP1550; replace when warped or cracked from impact or repeated heavy use
  • Handle assembly & handle rubber grips — bent or broken handles from transport and storage; rubber grip covers for operator comfort
  • Engine oil, fuel filter & spark plug (Honda GX160) — standard service items; use Honda-spec oil and replacement parts for warranty compliance
  • Protective pad kit / rubber pad kit — rubber pad attachment for paver and hardscape compaction to prevent surface damage

VP1550 vs WP1550 — What's the Difference?

The VP1550 and WP1550 are frequently confused — even by experienced contractors. Both are Wacker Neuson forward plate compactors of similar size. The VP1550 is the vibratory plate series (Honda engine, exciter-driven compaction). The WP1550 is the Wacker Premium plate series. Some parts are interchangeable; many are not. If you're shopping for VP1550 parts, verify your model number on the data plate. We also stock WP1550 parts here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I use this diagram?

Match the Ref. # on the diagram to the row in the parts list at the right. Click a part name to see details, price, and add it to cart.

How do I make sure a part fits my machine?

Confirm your model/series and serial number range on the product page. Many manufacturers have serial breaks, when in doubt, share your model and serial with us and we’ll verify fit.

What do the Ref. numbers and quantities mean?

The Ref. # points to the callout on the drawing. Qty shows how many of that item your machine uses. Parts are sold individually unless noted as a kit.

Are these genuine parts?

Yes, we supply genuine OEM parts for all our brands. If a part has an approved replacement, we ship the latest superseded revision

Why does my original part number look different?

Manufacturers often supersede numbers. Our pages list the current orderable number and show older numbers in the description when available. Your old number will cross-reference to the correct part.

I can’t find a part in this diagram, can you still get it?

Yes. Some items are not pictured or are shared with other assemblies. Send us the model, serial, and a description (or photo) and we’ll locate it.

Is there a warranty on these parts?

Yes. DanseUSA passes the manufacturer’s warranty to you. Coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for 30 days from the purchase date, in line with the manufacturer’s warranty policy. Terms can vary by brand; the product page reflects the applicable policy. If a claim is needed, we’ll help coordinate with the manufacturer.

Do you accept returns?

Yes, most new, uninstalled items can be returned under our standard policy. Please see our Returns & Refunds Policy for eligibility, timeframes, and any exceptions.
