Description

The shoe is the only part of a tamping rammer that touches the ground. On a Multiquip MTX-Series rammer running at full RPM, the foot strikes the substrate 644 to 695 times every minute — roughly 310,000 to 334,000 ground impacts in a single 8-hour shift. The laminated wood shoe absorbs every one of those impacts, and over time it cracks, splits, separates from its tempered-steel base plate, and walks the mounting bolts loose.

Multiquip part 362910150 — also marketed under the SKU KITSHOEMTX50/60 — is the genuine OEM 10.4-inch wood shoe kit that returns your rammer to factory-spec compaction performance. The kit fits the entire 10.4-inch-shoe MTX50/MTX60 platform and earlier MT-Series rammers, and ships complete with the laminated wood pad, the tempered steel base plate, and all mounting hardware needed for installation.

DanseUSA has been an authorized Multiquip parts dealer since 1981. Every 362910150 ships in original Multiquip packaging through authorized supply channels.

What's in the 362910150 / KITSHOEMTX50/60 Kit

Component Purpose
Laminated wood shoe pad (10.4" wide) Multi-ply ground-contact wear surface; engineered for shock absorption
Tempered steel base plate Structural interface that bonds the wood pad to the rammer foot housing
Square-neck mounting bolts (10×55 mm, ×7) Through-bolt the wood pad to the steel plate
Lock washers (M10, ×7) Anti-loosening preload retention
Nylon lock nuts (M10, ×7) Vibration-resistant nut-side retention

Per Multiquip's MTX-Series Operation Manual, the foot construction is described as "laminated wood with tempered steel plate for superior shock absorption." The two-layer engineering protects the rest of the rammer from sharp impulse loads — the wood absorbs, the steel transmits, and the bellows-and-spring system above the foot operates within its designed loading envelope.

Multiquip designation: Foot Assembly 265W M4B (the "265W" indicates 265 mm shoe width; "M4B" is the model-version designation for this assembly).

Multi-Model Compatibility

The 10.4-inch shoe is shared across Multiquip's compact and mid-class tamping rammer platform regardless of model year or engine package. The same physical 362910150 / KITSHOEMTX50/60 kit fits all of the following:

Rammer Model Engine Class Notes
MT-E55 (specialty variant) Compact Per Multiquip parts manual lookup
MTX50HD Honda GX100 Lightweight HD 129 lbs, 2,316 lbf
MTX60HD Honda GX100RTKRBF Mid-class HD 141 lbs, 3,060 lbf — volume seller
MTX60HF (legacy variant) Mid-class legacy Older variant of 60-class platform
MT54F (legacy MT-Series) Compact Earlier production
MT55F (legacy MT-Series) Compact Earlier production
MT60 (legacy MT-Series) Mid-class Earlier production
DR-50 Diesel Compact diesel Specialty variant
MTX60 (legacy non-HD) Mid-class Pre-HD redesign

Shoe footprint across all compatible models:
10.4 × 13.4 in (265 × 340 mm). Mounting bolt pattern, hardware grade, and base plate geometry are identical.

What 362910150 does NOT fit: This is the smaller 10.4-inch shoe kit for the MTX50/MTX60 platform. It does not fit the larger MTX70HD, MTX70HDR, MTX70HF, MTX80HDR, MTX90, or other 11-inch-shoe rammers — those use the 8511S kit instead. If you're servicing one of those models, see our 11-inch wood shoe kit page.

When to Replace the Shoe

The MTX-Series Operation Manual lists shoe inspection under daily preventive maintenance. Field signals indicating immediate replacement:

  • Visible cracks running across the wood face, especially around bolt holes
  • Lamination separation between wood plies
  • Mushroomed or recessed bolt heads from impact loading
  • Asphalt or aggregate embedded in the wood face causing imbalance
  • Uneven wear pattern across the face indicating asymmetric impact distribution
  • Audible change in the rammer's compaction note

Typical replacement intervals (10.4-inch shoe platform):

Rammer Model Typical Interval (Commercial Use)
MTX50HD on light-duty trench work 8–14 months
MTX60HD on mixed substrate commercial work 6–12 months
MTX60HF on legacy fleet maintenance 8–14 months
MT-E55 / older MT-Series Inspect more frequently; replacement varies by application

Universal Installation Notes

The 362910150 installs on all compatible models using the same procedure:

  1. Shut down and let the foot housing cool before disassembly. Muffler heat soaks adjacent components.
  2. Photograph the existing bolt orientation before removal. Square-neck bolts seat in specific orientations — reproducing the pattern from memory wastes bench time.
  3. Inspect the foot housing mating surface for impact damage from the failed shoe. Address any scoring before installing the new shoe.
  4. Use the OEM hardware that ships with the kit. Square-neck bolts in the 362910150 are graded for the impact regime; substituting hardware-store bolts is the most common cause of premature loosening.
  5. Torque in cross-pattern sequence for even preload distribution.
  6. Re-torque after 30 minutes, 4 hours, and 24 hours of run time. Bolt preload migrates during the first day under impact loading.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's the difference between 362910150 and KITSHOEMTX50/60? The two part numbers reference the same physical product. 362910150 is the engineering/parts-manual designation; KITSHOEMTX50/60 is Multiquip's marketing SKU for the same kit. Both ship the same shoe, steel plate, and hardware.

Q: Will this fit my Multiquip rammer? The 362910150 fits all 10.4-inch-shoe MTX-Series rammers (MTX50HD, MTX60HD, MTX60HF) plus legacy MT-Series rammers (MT-E55, MT54F, MT55F, MT60, DR-50, older MTX60). It does not fit the larger MTX70/MTX80/MTX90 platform — those use the 11-inch 8511S kit.

Q: Does the kit come with bolts, washers, and nuts? Yes. The OEM kit ships with all mounting hardware required for installation — seven 10×55 mm square-neck bolts, seven M10 lock washers, and seven M10 nylon lock nuts.

Q: What is "Foot Assy 265W M4B"? That's Multiquip's internal designation for this assembly. "265W" refers to the shoe width in millimeters (265 mm = 10.4 inches); "M4B" is the model-version designation. It's the same product as part 362910150.

Q: How long should the wood shoe last? Typical commercial use ranges from 6 to 14 months depending on rammer model and substrate hardness. Inspect daily and replace at the first sign of cracking, lamination separation, or bolt-head deformation.

Q: How is the wood shoe constructed? Per Multiquip's Operation Manual, the foot is "laminated wood with tempered steel plate for superior shock absorption." The wood pad is a multi-ply laminate engineered to absorb impact progressively rather than transmitting a sharp impulse to the bellows and spring components above. The steel plate provides the structural interface to the rammer foot housing.

Q: Will replacing the shoe void my Multiquip warranty? No. Replacing wear components like the shoe is normal preventive maintenance and does not affect warranty terms. Using the genuine OEM 362910150 keeps the rammer in factory-spec configuration.

Q: How is the 362910150 shipped? DanseUSA ships in original Multiquip packaging via standard ground service. Some MTX-Series components may ship from Multiquip's distribution warehouse direct — when that happens, your order may arrive in separate packages with individual tracking numbers.
