Description

The MTX70HD is Multiquip's most popular middleweight rammer — Honda GX100 power, 3,350 lbf of impact force, an 11.2-inch shoe, and the sweet-spot weight class for utility-trench backfill and confined-area cohesive soil compaction. Operators who run an MTX70HD log more shoe contacts per shift than almost any other rammer in the line, and the laminated wood pad is the consumable that pays the price.

OEM part 8511S is the Multiquip Mikasa 11-inch wood shoe kit engineered for direct fit on the MTX70HD foot mount. The kit replaces the entire ground-contact assembly in a single part number, with all mounting hardware included.

What is the MTX70HD 11" wood shoe kit?

The 8511S is a complete bottom-of-foot replacement assembly comprising:

  • Laminated wood shoe pad — multi-ply construction engineered for shock absorption and progressive wear characteristics
  • Tempered steel base plate — the hard interface between the wood pad and the rammer foot housing
  • Square-neck mounting bolts — for through-bolting the shoe to the foot housing
  • Nylon lock nuts — vibration-resistant retention
  • Lock washers — additional anti-loosening insurance under impact load

Per the MTX70HD Operation and Parts Manual, the shoe is described as "laminated wood with tempered steel plate for superior shock absorption." The 8511S supersedes legacy Multiquip part numbers 366910020 and 362910130 — if you have a pre-supersession parts list, all three numbers reference the same physical kit.

Installation Pointers Specific to MTX70HD

  1. Shut down and let the foot housing cool before disassembly — the muffler heat soaks into the foot housing during operation.
  2. Capture the bolt pattern with a phone photo before removing the worn shoe so you don't have to derive the bolt sequence from memory.
  3. Torque the new hardware in a cross pattern — same principle as a wheel rim. Sequential torquing creates uneven preload that loosens within the first hour of operation.
  4. Inspect the foot housing mating surface — if the wood pad failure was accompanied by impact damage to the housing itself, you may need foot cover (368347460) or further inspection of the upper foot assembly before installation.

Frequently Asked Questions — MTX70HD Wood Shoe

Q: Does the 8511S fit my MTX70HD specifically, or only older MTX70 units? The 8511S is the current Multiquip OEM part number for the 11-inch wood shoe kit and fits the MTX70HD with the standard 11.2-inch shoe footprint. Older MTX70 (non-HD) units use the same physical kit; Multiquip transitioned legacy part numbers 366910020 and 362910130 into the consolidated 8511S SKU.

Q: How often should I replace the wood shoe on an MTX70HD? Replacement intervals vary by application. Hard-surface compaction (compacted gravel, asphalt patch work) wears the shoe faster than soft-soil work. Most utility crews working five days per week on mixed substrates replace the shoe every 6 to 12 months. Visible cracking, separation between wood and steel layers, or mushroomed bolt heads are the field signals to replace immediately.

Q: Does the 8511S kit come with the bolts and nuts I need? Yes. The OEM 8511S kit ships with all mounting hardware — square-neck bolts, lock washers, and nylon lock nuts — sized for direct installation on the MTX70HD foot housing. No separate hardware purchase required.

Q: What's the difference between the 8511S and aftermarket 11-inch shoes? The 8511S is the genuine Multiquip OEM part, manufactured to factory tolerances and material specifications and compatible with Multiquip's warranty terms. Aftermarket shoes vary in wood lamination quality, steel plate temper, and bolt-hole alignment. For commercial-fleet operators where downtime cost outweighs unit cost, the OEM part is the lower-total-cost option over the rammer's life.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use this diagram?

Match the Ref. # on the diagram to the row in the parts list at the right. Click a part name to see details, price, and add it to cart.

How do I make sure a part fits my machine?

Confirm your model/series and serial number range on the product page. Many
manufacturers have serial breaks, when in doubt, share your model and serial with us and we’ll verify fit.

What do the Ref. numbers and quantities mean?

The Ref. # points to the callout on the drawing. Qty shows how many of that item your machine uses. Parts are sold individually unless noted as a kit.

Are these genuine parts?

Yes, we supply genuine OEM parts for all our brands. If a part has an approved
replacement, we ship the latest superseded revision.

Why does my original part number look different?

Manufacturers often supersede numbers. Our pages list the current orderable number and show older numbers in the description when available. Your old number will cross-reference to the correct part.

I can’t find a part in this diagram, can you still get it?

Yes. Some items are not pictured or are shared with other assemblies. Send us the model, serial, and a description (or photo) and we’ll locate it.

Is there a warranty on these parts?

Yes. DanseUSA passes the manufacturer’s warranty to you. Coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for 30 days from the purchase date, in line with the manufacturer’s warranty policy. Terms can vary by brand; the product page reflects
the applicable policy. If a claim is needed, we’ll help coordinate with the manufacturer.

Do you accept returns?

Yes, most new, uninstalled items can be returned under our standard policy. Please see our Returns & Refunds Policy for eligibility, timeframes, and any exceptions.
