Description

The Multiquip MTX70HF is the lower-impact legacy variant of the MTX70 platform — Honda GX100UKRB5 engine, 2,855 lbf of impact force, 163 lbs operating weight, and the same 11.2 × 13.4 inch shoe footprint shared across the MTX70/80/90 series. Production of the HF preceded the current HD/HDR models (Operation Manual Rev. #0 dated 03/08/12), and well-maintained units remain in service across utility, landscaping, and municipal-works fleets nationwide.

For fleet managers maintaining MTX70HF inventory, the wood shoe is the consumable wear part — the only component that needs scheduled replacement during the rammer's serviceable life. Multiquip part 8511S is the genuine OEM 11-inch wood shoe kit that fits the MTX70HF foot mount in direct factory configuration.

What ships in the 8511S kit

The kit is a complete shoe-replacement bundle, not just a wood pad. Per Multiquip's parts catalog, 8511S ships with:

  1. The laminated multi-ply wood shoe pad — the ground-contact wear surface
  2. The tempered steel base plate that bonds the wood pad to the rammer foot housing
  3. Square-neck mounting bolts (for the through-bolt connection)
  4. Lock washers (M10 and M12 grades, depending on mount position)
  5. Nylon lock nuts for vibration retention

This is the same kit that ships from the factory on a new MTX70HF. Ordering 8511S means you don't need to source replacement bolts separately, and the bolt grade matches the impact loading the rammer was engineered for.

Why the MTX70HF wood shoe is a maintenance item, not an emergency repair

The MTX70HF Operation Manual lists the shoe under "Daily Inspection" — operators are instructed to inspect the foot for cracks, loose hardware, and impact damage before every shift. Multiquip's preventive-maintenance posture treats the shoe as a scheduled-replacement component, not a run-to-failure part.

A worn shoe on the MTX70HF specifically:

  • Reduces effective compaction force below the rated 2,855 lbf
  • Transmits asymmetric impact loads into the bellows and spring cylinder above
  • Risks foot housing damage if a bolt failure allows the steel plate to shift under load
  • Can crack adjacent rubber bellows components from imbalanced operating geometry

Replacing the shoe before any of those secondary failures occurs is the lowest-cost maintenance posture for an MTX70HF over its remaining service life.

Frequently Asked Questions — MTX70HF Wood Shoe

Q: Multiquip stopped making the MTX70HF — are parts still available? Yes. Multiquip maintains active OEM parts inventory for the MTX70HF, including the 8511S wood shoe kit. The 11-inch shoe is shared across multiple models (MTX70HD, MTX70HDR, MTX80HDR), so production volume keeps the part in regular stock.

Q: Will an aftermarket shoe work on my MTX70HF? Aftermarket 11-inch shoes are sold by multiple suppliers, but quality varies significantly. The OEM 8511S meets factory tolerances on bolt-hole alignment, wood lamination grade, and steel plate temper. For an MTX70HF that needs to remain in productive service, OEM is the lower-risk option.

Q: My MTX70HF predates the current part-number system — what was the original shoe kit number? The 8511S supersedes legacy Multiquip part numbers 366910020 and 362910130. If your service records reference either older number, the 8511S is the direct replacement.

Q: Is the wood pad warranty-eligible if it cracks within the first 90 days? Multiquip warranty terms vary by component and original purchase circumstances. For warranty inquiries on an OEM 8511S installed on an MTX70HF, contact us with your purchase information and we'll route it through the appropriate channel.

Frequently asked questions

How do I use this diagram?

Match the Ref. # on the diagram to the row in the parts list at the right. Click a part name to see details, price, and add it to cart.

How do I make sure a part fits my machine?

Confirm your model/series and serial number range on the product page. Many
manufacturers have serial breaks, when in doubt, share your model and serial with us and we’ll verify fit.

What do the Ref. numbers and quantities mean?

The Ref. # points to the callout on the drawing. Qty shows how many of that item your machine uses. Parts are sold individually unless noted as a kit.

Are these genuine parts?

Yes, we supply genuine OEM parts for all our brands. If a part has an approved
replacement, we ship the latest superseded revision.

Why does my original part number look different?

Manufacturers often supersede numbers. Our pages list the current orderable number and show older numbers in the description when available. Your old number will cross-reference to the correct part.

I can’t find a part in this diagram, can you still get it?

Yes. Some items are not pictured or are shared with other assemblies. Send us the model, serial, and a description (or photo) and we’ll locate it.

Is there a warranty on these parts?

Yes. DanseUSA passes the manufacturer’s warranty to you. Coverage applies to defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for 30 days from the purchase date, in line with the manufacturer’s warranty policy. Terms can vary by brand; the product page reflects
the applicable policy. If a claim is needed, we’ll help coordinate with the manufacturer.

Do you accept returns?

Yes, most new, uninstalled items can be returned under our standard policy. Please see our Returns & Refunds Policy for eligibility, timeframes, and any exceptions.
