Description

Northrock PRO 3+ Electric Concrete Consolidator Motor — 3 HP, 115V, 19 Amp

The Northrock PRO 3+ (model 25L3, or 25L3QD with quick-disconnect) is Northrock's heavy-duty electric concrete consolidator motor — the 3 HP workhorse built for the busy contractor and tough rental applications where a 1.5 HP or 2 HP motor would bog down under load. The 3 HP universal motor drives the full Northrock head range up to 2-1/2" diameter and is the correct choice for column vibration, slab consolidation, footings and forms, structural walls, precast production, and low-slump concrete mixes.

Manufactured in Bohemia, NY. UL / cUL Listed.

When you need the PRO 3+ instead of the PRO 2+

  • Low-slump mixes — stiff concrete draws more amperage through the shaft. The 3 HP motor holds rated frequency (~10,000 VPM) where a 2 HP motor sags under load.
  • Precast production — continuous multi-hour cycles with short cool-down windows.
  • Long shaft runs — 21 ft single shafts or two connected shafts up to 60 ft. Longer shafts consume more driveline power; the PRO 3+ carries it without bogging.
  • 2" and 2-1/2" head work — large-diameter heads displace more concrete per revolution and demand more torque to stay at the target 10,000 VPM under load.
  • Rental fleets — the PRO 3+ is the model renters reach for when a 20 A circuit is available and the job is bigger than residential.
  • Column and wall pours — enough torque to work a 2-1/2" head through rebar-congested columns without stalling.

Heavy-duty construction

  • Upgraded armature, field coil, and end bell versus the PRO 2+ — parts 475C1 (armature), 480C1 (field), and 420D1 (end bell) are unique to the 25L3 build and rated for the higher amp draw.
  • Larger air filter and baffle assembly (470B1 / 470F1) — more cooling airflow for continuous-duty operation.
  • Heavier-gauge power cord (505J1) — carries the 20 A plug required for the higher amp draw.
  • High-strength cast aluminum housing — full-perimeter heat sink that dissipates damaging heat on long pours.
  • Rugged shock-absorbing frame — doubles as a carry handle and shields the rocker switch from drops and impact.
  • Watertight, strain-relief cord entry — the #1 preventable jobsite failure is a pulled or flooded power cord; the PRO 3+ is built to stop it.
  • Protected rocker switch — water-resistant seal and frame protection against side impact.
  • Fully field-serviceable — brushes, bearings, armature, field coil, switch, cord, and frame are all individually replaceable OEM parts, all stocked at DanseUSA.
  • Optional shoulder strap available for single-operator long-pour comfort.

25L3 standard vs. 25L3QD quick-disconnect

Both motors are mechanically identical 3 HP power units. The difference is the shaft coupling:

  • 25L3 (standard) — permanent threaded shaft connection using core adapter 160AH1 and casing adapter 150DW1. Choose this for crews that rarely swap shaft lengths.
  • 25L3QD (quick-disconnect) — tool-free quick-release coupling using core adapter 160CW1 and casing adapter 150DE1. Choose this for rental fleets and multi-head jobs where crews swap shaft lengths or head sizes in the middle of a pour.

Compatible shafts and heads

The PRO 3+ drives Northrock flexible shafts and vibrator heads across the full range — seven head sizes from 3/4" through 2-1/2".

Shaft lengths (single): 2 ft, 5 ft, 7 ft, 10 ft, 12 ft, 14 ft, 16 ft, 21 ft. Maximum reach with connector: up to 60 ft.

Shaft types:

  • Standard-duty shaft — stiffer construction for better poking ability and control in open pours.
  • Pencil shaft — more flexible, designed for tight, rebar-congested areas (used with 3/4" and 1-1/4" heads).

Quick-disconnect shafts for the 25L3QD — recommended compatible shafts include the 25N7 (7 ft) and 25N14 (14 ft) QD-compatible assemblies. QD shafts feature rubber-coated steel braiding to resist stretching and a hardened steel inner liner that serves as the bearing surface for the greased core. Each assembly includes both the shaft casing and a pre-greased core.

Northrock vibrator heads (maintenance-free): All seven Northrock heads (3/4", 1", 1-1/4", 1-1/2", 1-3/4", 2", 2-1/2") are factory-sealed with four high-performance lifetime ball bearings, an oil-bath lubrication system with permanent seal, alloy steel housing, and a scientifically-designed eccentric that maximizes amplitude. The permanent seal keeps oil in and contaminants out — no field maintenance required. Replace the entire head when the bearings eventually fail.

Multi-brand compatible — the PRO 3+ is adapter-ready for existing shafts and heads from Wacker Neuson (M1000 / M2000 / M3000), Wyco (990 / 991 / 992 / 993 series), Oztec (1.2 / 1.8 / 2.4 / 3.2), Stow, Stone, Multiquip / Mikasa (PMA series), Dynapac, Viber, Master, Denver, Dreyer, and Remington with the correct core and casing adapter pair.

Best applications

Precast concrete plants, bridge deck and pier pours, retaining walls, heavily reinforced columns, large commercial footings, tilt-up panels, stiff low-slump structural mixes, ICF wall fill, mass pours, and any production environment where a vibrator runs continuously for most of the shift. The PRO 3+ is also the standard rental-fleet choice for contractors who rent by the week for big-job consolidation work.

Electrical setup and extension cord sizing

Because the PRO 3+ pulls 19 A, it must be run from a dedicated 20 A circuit with a 20 A T-slot receptacle (NEMA 5-20R) or a generator rated above 2,500 running watts with a 20 A outlet. Running the PRO 3+ through an undersized extension cord is the fastest way to burn the motor — voltage drop forces the motor to draw more current to maintain RPM, which cooks brushes, armature windings, and the field coil.

Use these cord sizes, straight from the Northrock manual:

  • 0–25 ft: 12 AWG minimum
  • 26–50 ft: 10 AWG minimum
  • 51–100 ft: Not recommended

Outdoor cords must be marked with the suffix W-A (e.g. SOW-A), 3-conductor grounded. Use a GFCI in damp or wet jobsite conditions. Never run the PRO 3+ on 14 AWG cord regardless of length.

Choosing PRO 3+ vs. PRO 1.5+ vs. PRO 2+

  • PRO 1.5+ (25L1) — 1.5 HP / 13 A. Tops out at 1-1/2" heads. Residential slabs, footings, light commercial. Runs on any 15 A household outlet.
  • PRO 2+ (25L2) — 2 HP / 15 A. Full Northrock head range (3/4"–2-1/2"). General construction, rental fleets, mixed daily work. Runs on standard 15 A / 20 A circuits.
  • PRO 3+ (25L3) — 3 HP / 19 A. Full head range. Heavy-duty, precast, low-slump, continuous-duty, long shaft runs. Requires a 20 A circuit.
